There are so many thoughts. I've to blog it before I continue with the 4th & 5th day of HCMC.
I was on my way home this evening and on the LRT I overheard this:
A little boy & mum board the train from the same station as me. After entering the train, the little boy (about 5 years old) requested to sit down but the mum decided no.
Little boy: I want to sit.. I want to sit.. I want... (& it continues)
His Mum: I said no. You stop it.
The little boy insist.
His Mum: You better stop. You want me to slap you is it?
Little boy became silent.
His Mum: So irritating. Just like your cousin.
The little boy teared. (Note: He was crying SILENTLY.)
As I look at the little boy, my heart wept with him. (I felt like explaining to his mum the aftermath-effect but such thought did not work out for me in that crowded LRT.) If he was crying out loud like any child who throw his tantrum would, I might feel better. But the little boy was quiet.. I couldn't lift my sight from him. I noticed each time the tears flow down his cheeks, he would use his hand to wipe it away.. He tried to control the tears but it just kept coming out..
I'm trying hard to put what I felt earlier into words right now. I think he was deeply hurt by his mum's remarks. To me.. young children are really precious & innocent. They are meant to be love & nurture. In fact I think it is the best time to instill values into them while they're still at their tender years - while they are still incorrupted & pure. Sometimes, we as adults used our assumptions on the little ones without even realising the fact that the child is still in the process of developing their cognitive mind. They could hardly find reason for the things they do or did wrongly. Patience is the key to teaching them.
I was taken aback by the insensitivity of his mum choice of words, though it could be just an expression of her anger, she definitely did it the wrong way. This incident (might seem like a minor one) could become a hindrance in the little boy's life. There are many adults today who are unable to live the way they want to because of their childhood nightmares. They are unable to walk out of condemnation and unforgiveness. They are bounded by the chains from their past and forever living a unfulfilled life. They carried these baggages everywhere they go.. into marriage.. and when they have their own children, they do not know the right way to love & teach their children.. So the cycle goes on. Until unless the chains are broken and cast out from their lives just as the Bible says "...the old has gone, the new has come" (2 Cor 5:17), the road will only become rougher to walk.
I pray that the little boy would be relieve from all hurts and condemnations... & I pray for the mum to have wisdom and revelations in coping with the family.
It is true that there are some things we cannot choose; for examples like who our parents are.. where we are born in.. how we look like.. our culture.. our background.. etc. You may be blessed with a great family or you may be an orphan; if we would understand the fact that God is the Creator and He is our Provider and He will never forsake us then nothing else matters anymore. Isn't it?
God did not create illnesses (share about this some other time) but He would not allow a blind man to be blind or a lame to be lame if He is not planning to fill that insufficiency with greater works. So do not fear circumstances but learn to embrace the providential will of God and He will lead you through the deep & dark valleys of life.
